The Simian Crease

simian line

Many cultural and historic interpretations of the Life Line differ from those of modern palmistry.  These days the length of the line is rarely interpreted to indicate the length of the seeker’s anticipated lifespan, so if you bear a particularly short lifeline, don’t despair!  Rather, the seeker should look to the Life Line as an indicator of core energy strength:  the ability to resist disease and weather life’s challenges.

The Life Line runs from the margin of the hand between the thumb and forefinger, curving around the mount of Venus at the base of the thumb and toward the wrist.  If the line begins very high and near the mount of Jupiter the seeker has high aspirations.  When coupled with branches rising to Jupiter the individual is prone to conceit and high self esteem.  If the Life Line begins a substantial distance from the Head Line the seeker might not possess adequate self-control to move confidently through life, while a line conjoined with the Head Line reveals an individual who will delay action in favor of considering actions from every possible angle.

In general the line will terminate under the thumb or will swerve in the direction of the mount of the Moon.  A strong curve that ends beneath the thumb indicates a deep connection to family, friends and the familiar.  If circumstances require the individual to relocate, he or she will always long for the life they left behind.  A line that swerves toward Luna, however, will indicate a person who loves to travel.  They are prone to moving long distances and open to exploring new opportunities.  If the lifeline splits into two distinct branches the seeker is likely a person who equally enjoys travel while maintaining deep ties to their roots.

A Life Line that appears as broken, wavy or threaded chains indicate weakness or dysfunction in mental or physical abilities or a negative disposition.  A sunny disposition is evident when the line is reinforced by a mirroring (parallel line) nearby.
Effort lines radiate up and out from the Life Line and reflect challenges that the seeker has risen above or will expend concerted effort to surpass over the course of time.  The events are considered life altering and therefore earn a permanent distinction on the Life Line.

A fork in the terminus of the line can mean either that the individual will care for others who near the end of their life or that the seeker will rely upon family in their senior years.
