The Head Line

The Head line is generally indicative of the individual’s mental acuity, determination and drive as they apply to achieving their life goals.   

In the passive hand the Head line may be substantially different than that of the dominant hand.  Depending upon the belief system of the reader, the passive hand reflects the inner nature of the individual; the core being on which has been imprinted with genetic predisposition and its specific karmic path.  The lines of the dominant hand develop over the course of life based on decisions and adjustments in the life path based on the development of the human element.

The Head line begins at the edge of the palm between the thumb and forefinger (Jupiter finger) and extends laterally across the palm toward the outer edge of the hand.  The length, depth, degree of straightness, direction of curve, if any, and association with the Life line (which begins at or near the same point as the Head Line and encircles the Venus mount at the base of the thumb) all provide insight into the mental nature or psychological well-being of the seeker.  Here are a few things to look for when examining the Head line: 

Examine the point at the inner margin where the line begins.  Does the Head line appear separate and distinct or does it merge with the Life Line at this point? 
Separate:  This individual might be prone to restlessness or unpredictability.  They tend to be strong-minded and inflexible and might be counseled to temper their character at times of confrontation.  Note:  if it starts very high on the palm, just under the Jupiter finger, the seeker has above-average intelligence. 
Joined:  The joined lines at their start indicate strong family values and a sensible, well-balanced nature. 
How long is it?  The average Head Line terminates approximately under the ring (or Saturn) finger. 
Long:  If this line nears or reaches the outer margin of the hand the individual thinks things through carefully and thoroughly before putting thoughts into action. 

Short:  When the line trails off nearer the middle of the palm it is considered a sign that the thoughts are simple and direct. 
Does it curve?  A curved line indicates a nature open to exploring new ideas while a straight line indicates a more lineal thinker.
A sloped line shows creativity while a line that trails horizontally across the palm reflects practicality.
