Psychic readers employ many disciplines to accurately read and advise their clientele.  For the palmist, hand shape is one of the introductory factors that provide insight into the overall character, talents and inclinations of the individual. 
First let’s examine the palm:

The most common palm shapes are square, round, elongated or rectangular.  The reader considers the lines of the hands in the initial assessment … not for their specific meaning, but to further aid in core value analysis, temperament and potential.  Elongated and square palms generally have fewer, finer lines that reflect the gentle, thoughtful nature of the individual.  Round and elongated palms routinely have deeper, more plentiful lines that indicate a dynamic, energetic personality and artistic nature. 

The fingers, shape, length and circumference comprise the second aspect of hand shape in the introductory phase of palm reading.  Long, graceful fingers are another indication of the artistic social butterfly while thick, knobby fingers reflect a thoughtful, studious character common in deep thinkers who value their privacy.  People who exhibit a love of nature and working with the earth typically have short, thick fingers.   Slim, pointed fingers indicate innate psychic ability and the individual prefers dreaming over doing.  The reader will consider the space between the fingers, the length and distinction of each finger segment as well as finger flexibility to gain insight to characteristics such as spending habits, and rigidity of spirit.
