Chochmas Yad - Ancient Jewish Palmistry

The Jewish religion does not recognize palmistry as a valid spiritual practice, and therefore, its practice is banned in the Orthodox Jewish community.

Yad Palmistry, Chochmas Yad, is firmly rooted in the belief that the Divine Creator has imprinted his specific message for each of us in a secret language that is found on the palms of the hands.  It is specifically utilized as a reminder that each and every member of humankind was created with divine purpose and precision, and its teachings tell us that the path and purpose of one’s soul lies in the map that lies on the palms of one’s hands.

In Chochmas Yad the reader studies to perfect their understanding of the intricacies of the lines, fingers, shape of the hands and related factors in order to provide valuable feedback to the seeker.  This feedback spurs the seeker on their soul path, guiding their steps in the physical world to ensure that they can advance in the next world.

The doctrine teaches that the hands have been imbued with the power to create miracles, such as was recorded when Moses was instructed by God to stretch out his hands and part the waters to allow the Jews to escape the Pharaoh.  While few of us would ever elevate our self-perception to compare with Moses, it is not so challenging to accept the belief that the hands are the means by which the being can impart energy from the spiritual world into the physical world.

Abraham is acknowledged for delivering palmistry to the world through the knowledge he imparted in six of his sons.  It is widely accepted that Abraham’s six sons immigrated to India where they began to teach the meaning of the lines and mounds of the hands to others.  Their efforts were meant to impart divine knowledge that would lead to the betterment of society.
Today, we seek skilled palm readers who have pursued the study of the lines and mounts of the hands their lifelong purpose in an effort to continue the work of Abraham’s sons.  Like those first six practitioners, modern palm readers counsel and guide their clients along their life’s path by bringing to light pitfalls and opportunities that lie along the way.  They help their clients to gain a better understanding of who they are and what natural talents and tendencies rule their spirit so that they can move confidently through life with as little turmoil as possible.

Chochmas Yad imparts seven spiritual laws to ensure the reader or healer is able to open to and connect with divide energies before undertaking any readings.

  1. Hands are washed to ensure the purity of the soul
  2. The placement and movement of the hands must be carefully monitored to ensure that their powerful energies are not mis-placed.
  3. Fingernails are to be trimmed each Friday afternoon in a particular order.
  4. Every Saturday night the reader is to examine the palms of their own hands by candlelight for reinforcement of their connection to the Divine Creator.
  5. Each day the reader must focus on specific details of their palms (particularly when one is in need of guidance regarding some aspect of their own life).
  6. Clap to cleanse trapped energies from the soul.
  7. Praying with the hands in an effort to protect the soul.
